U.S. Ski Team's Lindsey Vonn has been nominated for
World Sportswoman of the Year in the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards.

Laureus World Sports Academy annually honors the greatest sportsmen and women throughout the sporting world. Journalists from around the world nominate the atheletes and the winners are selected by a 46-member panel comprised of living legends in the world of sports.

Vonn's nomination stems from an historic season where she produced one of the most successful winters in international ski racing history with two gold medals at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and her second consecutive World Cup overall title – a first for American women.

Her total 22 World Cup victories make her the most successful women in American ski racing history, and she also clinched the World Cup downhill title for the second straight season while setting a female international record with five straight World Cup super G wins en route to the super G title.

The awards will be presented individually at a series of presentations throughout May and June. For a complete list of Laureus nominees, visit www.laureus.com.
