Things got a little heated last night during an episode that was supposed to be celebrating Joe's new show - and it started with Artie Lange pulling out his whip.

Our friends at TMZ scoop: During the webcast, Joe did his best to fight back against Artie's relentless barrage of insults -- and even managed to sneak in a few jabs of his own -- but it was clear Joe was wayyy out of his league as Artie did nothing short of brutally roast the host.

While I was busy in the sedate environs of our nation's golf championship, Artie Lange hijacked the debut of Joe Buck's new HBO show Monday, an event of Bissinger-ian proportions that is sure to dominate the blogosphere today.

Good heavens. HBO likes to generate buzz - Bissinger or otherwise. It certainly got some Monday.
