Muppat Scat

muppet scat

In Daily show last night John Stewart said their viewer to search on google by a term "muppat scat" and to our surprise within hours it was the most searchable term. John Stewart was talking about this segment when he brought up this old clip from the Muppet show:

He then told viewers to go do a Google search on Muppet Scat to see what comes up. It didn’t take long before Muppet Scat became the most searched for term on the Internet. Click on the screen shot below and see for yourself.

By the time the show aired here on the West Coast, the online buzz had already begun. When I performed my “Mupet Scat” search, I saw that one blogger — who used many of the same blog SEO techniques I wrote about earlier this month — had already been able to get his post on the topic to show up on first page of Google results for that term. This provides yet another example of how powerful and immediate blogs can be for search engine optimization. Very cool indeed.

Believe it or not, Dr. Oz is not the reason "Muppet Scat" was a popular search term on Google this morning. Nope, you have Jon Stewart to thank for the sudden appearance of the surprisingly non-feces-related phrase. After Stewart played a clip of the Muppets singing "Mahna Mahna" -- while trying to determine exactly how to pronounce Manama, the home of a U.S. navy base -- he dared viewers: "If you Google search 'Muppet' and 'scat,' that might not be what comes up. Try it. You know what? Pause the TV now. I'll wait."
