The weather was dreadful for Sunday's Cinco de Mayo parade, but the spirit of celebration was strong - even defiant.
"I know they canceled in Flushing, but we're still here!" said Adan Gomez, referring to similar Cinco de Mayo events that were nixed in Queens in response to swine flu fears.
"I am happy, happy!" said Gomez, 23, dressed as an Aztec warrior under a blue plastic poncho as the rain poured down on the Central Park West parade, which started an hour behind schedule.
The threat of germs appeared to be far from the minds of the hundreds of participants who danced in the streets in colorful skirts,
